Frequently Asked Questions

  • A.The term cosmetic injectable treatment usually refers to anti wrinkle and filler injections, although other injectable products are available. When injected by a trained practitioner, results are noticeable but subtle. Treatments are aimed at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles or replacing lost volume in the face. Precise doses are used in specific places, using different techniques to achieve natural looking results. The goal of cosmetic injectable treatments should always be to enhance a person’s appearance by making them appear refreshed and less tired.

  • A. The treatments are all performed using very fine needles, so a small amount of discomfort is normal, however there is generally no significant pain involved. Topical anaesthetic and ice can be used on the skin prior to some treatments and many of the products have local anaesthetic already blended into them for added comfort.

  • A.      The side effects experienced by most people mainly relate to the injection process and not the products themselves. Skin redness, itching, mild tenderness, swelling, bruising and headache are all common following cosmetic injectable treatments, but generally subside within a few days. Your practitioner will advise on ways to manage these things, however in most cases, they resolve with minimal intervention. Serious side effects are very rare and your practitioner will discuss these if they are relevant to your treatment.

  • A. These treatments have been used safely on millions of people, for decades and your practitioner has received extensive training to ensure your experience is a positive one with low risk. At Quay Aesthetics, your safety is always our main concern.

  • A. For the period of time that these products have been available, no long-term or harmful side effects have been found to occur following repeat use. The products only work in the area treated and do not travel throughout the body. They simply metabolise and wear off, requiring the person to repeat the treatment, in order to maintain the effect.

  • A. Depending on the treatment you have administered, results could be immediate, a couple of weeks, or take several months. Your Quay Aesthetics practitioner will discuss this detail with you at your consultation. Further information can be found by reading about these treatments on this website.

  • A. Please come to your appointment with your face washed and void of all makeup. Immediately following your treatment, the skin will have numerous tiny punctures from the needles and these need time to heal. For this reason, makeup is not recommended until the next day.

  • A.      Unfortunately, they do not. The ageing process will always continue but by making small corrections with cosmetic injectables your face can be rejuvenated, keeping your appearance fresh. This can create the impression that you may have had a few less birthdays.

  • A. No, you do not. If you decide you do not wish to repeat a treatment, the effect will simply lessen over time and your face will return to its former appearance, allowing for the fact the ageing process has been ongoing. However, many people forget what their wrinkles and volume loss were before they started.

  • A.      No, you cannot. Quay Aesthetics will not use permanent fillers for numerous reasons.

Firstly, it is likely that your goals with dermal fillers will change over time. Fuller lips or cheeks can look fantastic in your 20s and 30s however in another 15 or 20 years’ time, you might prefer a more subtle and age appropriate result.

Secondly, your face will continue to age around a permanent filler, which means in 15 or 20 years’ time, the result will not look the same as when you had it first done.

Thirdly, areas where permanent fillers have been previously injected are unable to be treated with any further filler due to a higher risk of infection or an inflammatory response.

Fourthly, permanent fillers are unable to be dissolved which could be catastrophic in an emergency situation if the circulation was compromised.

Quay Aesthetics only uses temporary dermal fillers for your safety. In the unlikely event that you change your mind or there is a serious complication, the fillers can be completely dissolved.

  • Item descA. No, you cannot. There is no conclusive medical evidence that says cosmetic injectable treatments are 100% safe for an unborn child or a baby being breast fed. For your baby’s safety we advise that you wait until your pregnancy is over and you have finished breast feeding. This rule extends to women who are also trying to conceive, naturally or through IVF.ription
